Community Altar

Each year, the City of Edinburg dedicates the Festival Altar/Ofrenda to a dearly departed individual that was impactful to our community or was well celebrated. This year’s altar is dedicated to all the victims of Covid-19. We invite our community to bring a photo of their loved ones to the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library framed in a 6x4 frame so it may be included in the City of Edinburg Community Altar.

  • Frame pictures should have your information on the back or provide us with your information to contact you and return your pictures.

  • Pictures should be turned in to the Sekula Library located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd by October 20th at 5 pm for inclusion on the altar.

We would like to thank the Marquez-Guerra Family, Mr. Marquez and his wife Dr. Guerra, of Edinburg for their continued support for the Day of the Dead: Los Muertos Bailan Altar. We’d also like to thank the UTRGV Center for Latin American Arts under the direction of Dr. McAllen for the contribution to last year’s Altar Segment presentation that can be viewed on our YouTube Channel. A special thanks to Carol Lopez and Daniel Ymbong for their participation.
