StageLight Theatre: Children’s Summer Camp

 Edinburg Arts and the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library are proud to announce StageLight Theatre's  6 week long Children's Theatre Summer Camp! This camp was created with a special focus on Stage Acting and Theatre Studies just for kids! These 2 hour classes will be held weekly on Saturdays from 10a.m. to 12p.m throughout June & July. Children's Summer Camp will take place at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library and at the Historical Edinburg Municipal Auditorium, where participants will have the chance to step onto the stage and share their talent. In this course, children between the ages of 7 and 14 will have the opportunity to learn about the basics of Theatre, including Acting Methods, Approaches, learning tips on the theatre audition process, fun preparation techniques and much more! Children that complete the summer camp will also receive a professional headshot and resume that will be helpful in their next audition. StageLight Theatre: Children's Summer Camp has an open capacity of 10 seats and we look forward to an exciting summer!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Vanessa Marie Ramos is a graduate of The University of Texas-Pan American with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance. Along with performing in numerous Main Stage shows, Vanessa has both directed and stage managed productions as well as interned with the UTPA Children’s Theatre Workshop as an Acting Coach. Ms. Ramos performed and competed in 2011 at the annual New York International Fringe Festival as part of an acting troupe from the RGV, where the actors were awarded “Best Ensemble”. Other tour performances include participation in New Orleans, LA at the New Orleans Fringe Festival with The University of Texas Pan American and Chicago, IL where she attended workshops at The American Alliance for Theatre & Education Conference. Ms. Ramos believes in the importance of spreading knowledge of theatre as an art form and in the teaching of the long-term benefits to be gained.
