Edinburg, Texas–The City of Edinburg is proud to announce film submissions for the 2018 South Texas International Film Festival are now open. Submissions deadlines are February 2, for Early Bird Submission, April 30, for Regular Schedule Submissions, and May 25, for the Late Submission. Absolutely NO submissions will be accepted after May 25.
The 2018 South Texas Film Festival is scheduled for September 5 - 8. The Festival showcases original films with a unique vision and point of view. All filmmakers are encouraged to submit for a chance to win prizes and awards. For more details and to submit films, visit the South Texas International Film Festival website at www.stxff.us. Only secure digital submissions through Withoutabox and Film Freeway will be accepted. The Festival and all movie screenings will be free to the public.
The Film Festival includes several free workshops throughout the year that all filmmakers can benefit from. The first session of the 2018 STXIFF Workshop Series is “From Ideas to Screenplay” conducted by University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Professors Lawrence Gise and David Carren. The workshop will take place at the Sekula Memorial Library on Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Professor Gise will focus on “How Ideas are Conceived: Creating Your Reality on Screen,” and Professor Carren’s topic will be “Sky High Concepts: Striking Ideas Make Exciting Movies.”
