Edinburg, Texas– This year, the City of Edinburg, the Mexican Consulate of McAllen and Edinburg Arts is proud to continue the tradition of Fiesta de Mayo from May 13 – 15, commemorating the historical victory of Mexico at the Battle of Puebla. Fiesta de Mayo will be filled with wonderful mariachi music played during Noche Garibaldi. The evening will also include festive Folkloric dances, Mariachi exhibitions, family friendly activities, food vendors, visiting Mexican artisans, and much more.
In an effort to create a place where the community can join together to celebrate the beautiful culture of Mexico, Noche Garibaldi will showcase some of the most popular Mariachi bands in the Rio Grande Valley. The performances will follow the same style of the famous Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City, where bands stroll down the historic plaza serenading the audience. Plaza Garibaldi is known to be the home of the Mariachi. People from all over the world flock there year round, to enjoy the live music and take pleasure in the experience.
As the City of Edinburg continues to promote the beautiful and popular City Hall Courtyard and Las Ramblas Paseo Cultural walkway, Edinburg Arts showcase some of the top High School and professional mariachis of the RGV. Approximately, 10 mariachi bands will take part in Noche Garibaldi on Friday, May 13th. This is an unprecedented event here in the Valley and Edinburg Arts hopes that it can become one of the favorite components of the annual Fiesta de Mayo.
