Edinburg, TX– The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library kicks off its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrarion with a book-signing event presented by local author Jesus Perez, who will be promoting his latest book El Mensajero / The Messenger. The book presentation and signing will take place at the Library on Thursday, September 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In his book, El Mensajero, author Jesus Perez acts as a messenger giving news about social injustice and inequality, the lack of decent work suffered by rural communities, and Corruption. Through his testimony the characters of Perez - The Dreamer, Don Nicolas, El Cronista del Pueblo, among others - denounce the vulnerable conditions in which the find themselves and make a call to readers to help eliminate the inequalities that exist.
Emceeing the event will be author, filmmaker, director, actor, and publisher from the Rio Grande Valley Gabriel H. Sanchez. Sanchez is co-founder of, and editor at, The Raving Press which publishes anthologies that include works by local, national, and international authors.
