RGV, get your braids and unibrows on! The City of Edinburg is seeking to establish a world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Frida Kahlo for the 5th anniversary of the City's FridaFest. This annual festival will take place at the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard on Saturday, July 21st, 2018 starting at 5 p.m.
To establish the record, we need to meet a minimum of 300 people dressed as Frida Kahlo in one location. The location will be the corner of McIntyre and 10th St. in Edinburg across from the Edinburg Fire Department. To participate, the guidelines are as follows:
Come ready and dressed for the event, have a unibrow, a braid across your head with 3-5 flowers on your braid. Wear a Mexican folkloric dress and a rebozo/shawl. Please pre-register to participate to have a more accurate count and all the names of the participants. You can register to participate by visiting the City of Edinburg’s Cultural Arts website at www.edinburgarts.com, on Eventbrite at www.fridafest.eventbrite.com or call the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library at 956-383-6246 to be part of this record.
FridaFest© 2018 is a free event for the entire community, it includes live music, artists, food vendors, plenty of children’s activities and lots of great Frida inspired art.
