Suanne is an artist and a poet, she was born in the small Appalachian town of Portsmouth, Ohio and currently lives in McAllen. On January 31st, 2002, Suanne’s only child Brandi died tragically in an automobile accident. The ongoing journey to transform her grief brings Suanne to her most important artistic quest yet. Because of this unimaginable loss, she has been stirred to write and illustrate her process in hope that by sharing her experience, she can at once honor Brandi’s memory, continuer her healing, and offer others on the same path comfort and Support.
Suanne's powerful and moving art pieces are both graceful and painful at the same time; her work reflects meaning through myths and believes of diverse cultures and incorporates imagery from her dreams, meditations, and poetry.
Suanne Going's exhibit is on display at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library from June 6th - July 6th with the reception and gallery talk on June 12th. For more information on this or other events, please contact the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library at 956-383-6246 or by visiting our website.
