Edinburg Library Hosts Book Reception of “Fugaces”-Poetry by Edna Ochoa

Edinburg, Texas–The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library invites the community to the book reception of “Fugaces”, Dr. Edna Ochoa’s latest book. The book release reception will take place on April 24th at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library at 6 p.m.

Author Edna Ochoa was born in Mexico City. She is the author of the books Shadow for Mirrors, Root Breathing, The Circular Fence, Shreds of Yesterday, Ruins and The Most Effective Method and other short works. She translated into Spanish Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez, The Frog and His Friends Save Humanity by Víctor Villaseñor and The Magic of Mariachi by Steven Schneider. Her poems, stories and theater scripts have been published in various anthologies and magazines, as well as her academic articles. Ochoa is a member of the Asociación Cultural Tepalcate Producciones in Mexico, she also directs theater and teaches creative writing workshops. Ochoa obtained her doctorate in literature from the University of Houston and her bachelor's degree in journalism from the School of Journalism "Carlos Septién García". She is a professor at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

 The Library hosts a variety of programs through its Cultural Arts Division on a monthly basis to provide creative individuals a space to showcase and share their work and share it with the Edinburg and surrounding communities. The public is invited attend the book reception, Dr. Edna Ochoa will be reading from her book, others involved in the creation of the book will be also be present including Peter Brown, Translator, Ramiro Rodriguez, Editor and Sergio Garcia, book cover artist. Books can be autographed and will be available for sale; the book will also be available for checkout at the Library.
